What can I say, there has been a recent rise on the Classic Rock scene. There are bands like Black Mountain, and Wolfmother, who capture the music of the late 60's early 70's done by the likes of Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and Cream. I could go on, but you get the idea.
Enter Dirty Sweet, a band I have been meaning to see. I first heard their music when browsing The Casbah's website looking for some new acts to go see. The show was sold out the first time. I then saw that they were going to play at the new Hard Rock Hotel in Downtown San Diego, and then...I simply forgot. Disappointed, I was rejoiced when I saw that they would be playing The Casbah again on April 20th, 2008.
Seeing them live lived up to my expectations, and then more. After playing the full set, they came back for an encore. Then some fans started demaning that they play "Born to Bleed", and they did to close the show. A solid rock n roll band that keeps reminding me of what it would have felt like had I been old enough to live in the era of Monterey '67 and Woodstock. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
The other bands that played were, The Roman Spring: These guys were good. I feel ashame that I did not record some of their set. It was a great performance.
Then there was The Binges: If you have seen a band from Los Angeles, then you have seen The Binges. Sorry, I was just not into their set. but I was glad to see others enjoy their music. However, girls that play the bass win in my eyes.
